Itadogun Bath

Alaafia @Everyone - Here is the bath for y'all. Thanks for holding.

Oh note - You can use this advisory or not but, one of the other temples got a taboo of doing laundry at night. It was about washing away your Aje (She's a water deity). Figured I would share it just in case. I'm going to do my best to make the shift. Won't hurt anything.

River Wash - For those that can get to the river

  • We're in white anyway, but just in case - wear white

  • Bring an offering to the water like flowers

  • When you get there kneel and greet Mother Earth

  • Do the water blessing prayer

Omi tutu (Cool water refresh)

Aşe tutu (refresh my energy)

Ile tutu (refresh my home)

Tutu Laroyé (refresh Eşu Laroyé)

Tutu Ogun (Refresh the spirit of iron)

Tutu gbogbo Egun (refresh all the ancestors)

Tutu gbogbo Orisha (refresh all Orisha)

Tutu ori (refresh my inner self)

  • Recite the appropriate portion of the Esu Odara Oriki based on where you are in your journey

  • Recite the Morning Iba (for my students) or your Mojuba

  • Recite your Ori Oriki

  • Recite an Orunmilla Oriki

  • Recite an Ire Verse from the Odu - I'll add in the comments when I'm stationary again

You can choose another verse as well. This is an example. I'll drop of them.

  • Set Intentions for your wash

  • First cleanse energy from you - starting from your head and working to your feet.- Be sure you are verbalizing what you are washing away

  • Next wash from feet up bringing in the good fortune - verbalizing what you want to bring in.

  • If you have honey add that to your tongue before speaking your good fortune

  • Once you are done Ire Ire Ire - Clap and say To (pronounced Toe)

Alternative Home Bath -Oshun Shower

Materials Needed

  • Yellow 7 Day Candle or 2 Yellow Candles from Dollar Store (Yes you can use white)

  • Flowers - Yellow if you can get them (optional)

  • Orange Sprinkled with Cinnamon (Yes cut it open like a bloom)

  • Bowl

  • Take a regular bath beforehand

  • Then clean and cleanse the bathroom

  • This is going to be a shower vs Bath so that the water is moving

  • The bath is going to essentially be the same except you are going to say a "prayer" to Oshun

  • Unless you are initiated Oshun - Use the Oshun Chant vs Oriki - Do this after you have said the prayer in the Odu

  • You can leave the song playing during the shower

  • The candle offering is to light the way for your good fortune and blessings

  • Bowl is so you can collect water from the shower as it "runs" - you are gathering your blessings after you wash away the things you want to release

  • Speak your blessings over the water, and the wash up to bring them in

  • If you have shea butter (and it isn't your taboo) rub your skin with it after the shower
