Announcements

Congratulations to Jasmyne who officially received her Hand of Ifa today! Our Iyaami Ritual will pick up at the full moon. Prior to that time, Iya will do an Iyaami class where we will learn about the Iyaami. The Iyaami should be venerated on Ose Oni the same day Obatala is venerated. Ā  We will still do a meet and greet via zoom with our sister temple, Irentegbe - the date for the event is forthcoming. Those with their Hand of Ifa (HOI)Ā  please book your appointment for your Naming Ceremony ASAP. If the system tries to charge you, contact Iya Owinni. Hand of Ifa Classes will start again Saturday, June 1. The Level 1 HOI classĀ  begins at 10:00 am (EST), and the Level 2 HOI class begins at 12:00 pm (EST).Ā Ā

Odu

Oshe Meji (Abundance is coming through prayer) - this is the throne of Oshun; the Odu Oshe Meji comes to us in ire through the Odu Obara Oyeku, but it was a close call. This Odu comes with a lot of victory over enemies. The meiji is associated with fresh water, and it is connected to the proper use of ofo ase. Aladura is the Yoruba word for prayer. This odu denotes plenty of children and triumph over enemies. Our advisory is to trust in the wisdom of Ifa and to trust in our Iyafifa. The odu is in ire, but we contribute to the ebo so the ire sticks, and our affirmation should be that money flows to me abundantly and effortlessly and sticks to me like glue. Give the ebo and secure the bag. From the story we learned that if we do what we are asked to do, Ifa will make certain we have what we need - Ifa will pick up the slack from our shortcomings. When your intention is to give the full ebo, but you donā€™t have the means to do so, know that Ifa will provide what you need. Just trust Ifa. Next year we need to have an Oshun Festival honoring Oshe Meji as the odu.Ā

Channeled Messages

Grandmother of the Iyaami (Nana Buruku) and her son Babaluā€™aye came through and want to be venerated; Iya will provide more information about how this will look. One message came through the song Keep on Movinā€™ by Carson Wheeler and Soul II Soul. There is a message that we are in a space of movement and must keep moving forward. The lyrics ā€œI hide myself from no oneā€ reinforces our need to be our authentic self. The truth is in us and only if we walk in that truth do we accept our Ofo Aseā€™. Heavy on Oya energy - she shows up as herself and no one else, reminding us that we must do the same - be authentic. We were close on ire because some of us in the community are not speaking to ourselves properly; no speaking negatively about ourselves. We must also be mindful of who we are walking with.Ā

Oshun wants us to do mirror work: we are to spend 5 minutes in the mirror daily for 5 days making yourself pretty (do hair, put on make-up, etc) while listening to the Oshun chant. Speak affirmations to yourself about your beauty while doing your glam, and this is how people will see you when you are out in the world.Ā
